Summer Research Submits Solar4RSchools Grant Application on Behalf of the Teton Geotourism Center
JACKSON HOLE, WYOMING, Dec 15, 2008 -- Summer Research is pleased to announce the submission of a Solar4RSchools grant application to the Bonneville Environmental Foundation for the proposed Teton Geotourism Center in Driggs, Idaho on behalf of the Teton Valley Chamber Of Commerce. If successful in winning the grant, the Bonneville Emvironmental would completely fund a 1.1 kw solar panel installation at the Teton Geotourism Center.
The solar panel installation could be tied to an educational kiosk on renewable energy and sustainable technology within the proposed Teton Geotourism Center. “We are pleased to provide pro-bono grant writing services that help bring renewable energy technologies to Teton Valley, Idaho”, said Kevin Owyang, President, Summer Research LLC.
The Teton Scenic Byway Advisory Committee of the Teton Valley Chamber of Commerce proposed a multi-purpose Visitors Facility at the Driggs City Center and received a Teton Scenic Byway Program grant from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) with matching funds from the Driggs Urban Renewal Agency to enable the construction. The project budget presently exceeds $1,000,000 and is expected to increase by virtue of grants from others.
The project includes a Public Plaza, a Visitors Center, Public Restrooms, and an interpretive center which is expected to be named the Teton Geotourism Center. Upon successful completion The Teton Geotourism Center will be tied to the National Geographic Society's Yellowstone Geotourism Map and represent the core of a revitalized downtown Driggs, Idaho. Tha National Geographic Society defines geotourism as “tourism that sustains or enhances the geographical character of a place—its environment, culture, aesthetics, heritage, and the well-being of its residents”.
